I love trying out new skin care products. I am a creature of habit, if I find something I like, I am unlikely to change brands. Unless, it is given to me. Then I embrace change like a giddy kid on Christmas morning.
My current skin care routine consists of my homemade wash, and drug store brand lotions. I am cheap, and wish I could splurge, but haven’t seen enough of a difference to justify spending money on pricey brands.
I was asked to try out Radical Skincare Exfoliating Pads and Radical skincare Instant Revitalizing Mask.
I started using the exfoliating pads every other day, and I LOVE them. They instantly make my face brighter. I use them at night and in the morning, my skin is still soft. I was a bit nervous about the anti-aging being harsh on my sensitive skin, but I have had no problems.
The instant revitalizing mask is a product I used at night, about twice a week. This also worked well on my sensitive skin, but unlike the exfoliating pads, I don’t know if this is worth the price tag. I didn’t notice a huge difference adding this into my routine, and for the price, I might stick with something a little more budget friendly.
What products do you let yourself splurge on? What products am I better sticking to drug store brands?
*Congrats to Sabrina, winner of the sexy little giveaway. I will be contacting you via email.
My goal for March was to GET ORGANIZED. Anyone with a child can tell you that attempting to do this is like shoveling in a snow storm. I think I am making progress in one area, and walk to the living room and see a whole new mess to pick up.
The above picture is what HJ managed to do while I was washing my face. Seriously. My face. All of 2 minutes. I have no idea how he moved all the chairs, stools and the coffee table, but he did. He even tipped the coffee table on its side. When I asked him what he had done it for, he explained it was to keep Tyson from getting on the couch. That way I wouldn’t have to clean the couch.
Sweet, huh? Trying to make my life easier, while making it messier. After the barricade proved to not be dog proof, I suggested picking it up. HJ’s response?
“But MOM! That was a lot of work!”
That is kind of how I feel about March’s getting organized attempt. I spent a lot of time digging through closets for them to look great, only…no one sees my closets. Sure, I was able to get rid of a lot of stuff and make things look nice and pretty, but dannnngg was it boring.
Also, I want more closet space. And a basement. And if I’m asking for stuff, a sexy shirt less guy to hang some shelves and cook me dinner.
So yes, March’s resolution was met. I could show you pictures, but let’s face it…linen closets are boring. Bathroom cabinets are dull. My organized junk drawer probably only excites me.
And that way there is no proof when it’s a mess 2 months from now.
Have you entered my fun little giveaway? Winner will be picked on Sunday!
I love my easy freezer meals. Not only is this one an easy freezer meal…it’s a crockpot meal!
The directions say to throw the crockpot on high for six hours…I did low for 10 and it was fine.
The first night, we had it over pasta. The next night, over rice. HJ loved this meal and ate it right up. He is in a green pepper phase. Someone got it in his head that they will make you run faster (I don’t know who would say such a thing). For this reason, we have had lots of meals with peppers in them.
Anyone have a favorite freezer meal?
It’s been a long time since I hosted a giveaway on the blog. My apologies. Hopefully, this will make it up to you.
About a month ago, my lovely friend Shaunna, asked me to review a few products from Pure Romance. Shaunna is one of those amazing friends that I haven’t actually “seen” in years, yet she is still there for me when I need someone to lean on. I was lucky she randomly came into my life years ago to be part of the DM Juice Singles Crew with me.
Ah, tangent…anyway, back to Pure Romance. Shaunna has been a consultant for Pure Romance for longer then I have known her. She has attended numerous conferences and knows her stuff. If you want to check out some of the products, you can go to her page. She also has a lot of fun promotions on her facebook page. I know a lot of you also happen to be close to the Des Moines area. She can host parties for you and your friends. Make girls night extra fun by having her come!
One of the items Shaunna sent to me was an after bath body oil mist. This is awesome to spray on after a warm bath. I love taking a bath and reading a book after HJ gets into bed. I have started using this body mist instead of putting on lotion before climbing into bed. The scent isn’t too overwhelming, and it keeps me skin from drying out.
Now to the giveaway….Shaunna is going to send the winner 3 items from pure romance. These include a perfume stick, a bosom buddy balm, and a kissable creamy lubricant.
In addition to her fun stuff, I will throw in a free ad space!
a Rafflecopter giveaway
The winner will be selected next Sunday, GOOD LUCK!
I think I have a cupcake problem. I can’t help it, they are just so cute and tasty. There mini cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting did not disappoint.
I made a regular box of mini cupcakes, and topped them with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cream Cheese Frosting.
Eat and Enjoy!

Thank you to Big G Cereal for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring super hero fun in our home!
I’ve mentioned it before, but HJ loves super hero’s. He has a cape that gets worn frequently, and as I type this the batmobile and bat castle (house? building?) sit on the floor in front of me. That’s why, when I heard about DC Comics in select boxes of Big G cereals, I knew my boy would be a fan.
HJ loves eating trix for a bedtime snack or for breakfast, but hadn’t tried Cinnamon Toast Crunch yet…one of my favorites. I decided to make some tasty cupcakes and have HJ and I read the comic books during snack time. (I will share the recipe on Friday!)
The back of the cereal boxes had some cut-outs that we had fun with.
And we got to run around playing batman and saving the world from the “bad guys”.
Here’s the scoop:

My resolution for March is to get organized. I want to clear out the clutter and have the house organized from top to bottom.
The first area I tackled was the kitchen. All the cupboards have been rearranged, fridge has been cleaned out and the pantry is completely organized. Here is a before and after of the pantry:
The main things I did were throwing out expired food and taking a few items I rarely use and storing them downstairs. And now, I can see everything in the pantry!
I am hoping this will help us to prevent food waste. I was disgusted at how much food had gone to waste because I didn’t realize it was past its prime. The same thing with the fridge and freezer, I felt so wasteful throwing out the amount of food we did.
To help with the organization, I picked up a few things at the dollar store. The little blue bucket in the pantry and some wire shelving for smaller items. I knew I needed a few things to help make it look better, but didn’t want to invest lots of money. The dollar store has lots of little storage items…for a dollar.
While organizing, we have also donated 4 garbage bags of stuff to Goodwill, and there should still be more to come. I have been tracking all of the donations so I can enter it in to get tax refunds.
Anyone have some awesome organization tips they use?
This week, I was told, “You’re ruining my life”. I thought I still had a few years before he realized that.
The reason I was told this is because I put him in a shirt that did not have an angry bird or a ninja turtle on it (because they were both in the washer). The horror.
The other night, I told HJ to get his pj’s on. His response? “Can you say that in Spanish?”. Er, no. I barely passed Spanish 4.
We had conferences at HJ’s preschool this week. I was so proud to hear the teacher say how sweet he is and that he is a great listener in class.
I am so happy that the snow is finally starting to melt. Another warm day or two, and my driveway might finally be snow free for the first time since November!
Happy weekend! I will be organizing the house for my March goal :).
Once a month, I get together with a group of girls. It is time to gossip, share wine and eat yummy food…all while in the company of amazing women and moms. We always share advice and catch up on our hectic lives.
This past month, the girl’s night was held at my house. With trying to stay healthy, I decided I would throw together some salads. I didn’t want plain, boring salads, so I went and checked out 30 Day Salad Swap from Fresh Express. The idea is that if you are craving something unhealthy, they can show you a healthy alternative.
The site is full of recipes, so trying to narrow it down to a couple proved to be difficult. I finally decided on 2 salads and a dip (who needs to be 100% healthy?).
The first one was a Red, White and Blue Pear Gorgonzola Salad. It was full of blueberries, strawberries, pears and gorgonzola (in case you didn’t gather that from the title) and topped with a raspberry vinaigrette. And it is only 270 calories a serving, woohoo!
The second salad I made was Salad with Creamy Pasta. This was a spin on Chicken Alfredo. This would be a great dinner option, as it is filling..and delicious.
With both salads, I halved the recipe and still had leftovers. And Fresh Express does come in a single serve portion size that would be perfect to throw together a small version for week-day lunches.
I also made a Spicy Southwest Spinach Dip. I picked this just to try something different. The recipe sounded…interesting. I really didn’t think it would turn out. But, this is officially my new favorite dip. Once again, I halved the recipe…and left out the jalapeno because I don’t like things too spicy. It was amazing. Try it.
With all of these recipes turning out so well, I am excited to try out a few more 30 Day Salad Swap recipes. You can try it yourself with this coupon: greenmomsmeet.com/freshexpress and download the free app!

Thank you to Green Moms Meet

One thing is certain, my child is good at making me turn red in public. From exposing my underwear to a restaurant to projectile vomiting in my face. He has had moments that made me run for cover.
This weekend, we had one of those times. HJ had swimming lessons on Saturday. After his lesson, we always head to the women’s locker room to get him dressed. Boys are allowed in the locker room until age 5. However, I think after Saturday, it is best we head to the other area to change.
HJ was sitting on a bench while I dried off his hair. He was looking over my shoulder at the mom and son across from us. The mom had been in the parent/child swim class and was changing out of her suit.
Did I say HJ was looking over my shoulder? I meant he was gawking at the lady. Specifically, at her breasts.
“MOM!” He shouted, as he is staring directly at her breasts. “MOM! THOSE ARE HUGE!”
“Ok, shh buddy.”
“BUT MOM THEY ARE SOOO BIG!”
At this point I picked him up and dragged him to another area. He oogled her chest the entire way. At this point, I myself couldn’t help and notice… they were 3 times the size of my head. He wasn’t lying.
I explained to him that if he wants to make comments about someone’s appearance, he needs to wait until it’s just us. I told him it isn’t nice to stare and point at someone. He understood and said ok, but also threw out another, “Those were HUGE!”.
