HJ loves anything related to construction. Trucks, tools, building things, tearing things down, etc. That is how we decided his birthday party theme.
I knew I would use the cupcake stand I painted from his first birthday party. We made marble cupcakes with chocolate frosting and put crushed Oreos on top. On top of all the cupcakes, we put a matchbox truck for everyone to take home. BTW, I searched store after store to find enough construction theme trucks for this…
I put a black vinyl table-cloth over the kitchen table, and cut out “road lines” from yellow poster board. The small construction cones were picked up at the dollar store, and the truck was from our play room :).
I used 2 long black vinyl table cloths and cut them in half length-wise. I taped them in a “road” from the front door through the kitchen. I used more yellow lines I cut from the poster board for the big road as well.
HJ was super impressed by the road.
We had hard hats for all of his friends. Some were by the front door, while others were in the kitchen.
There was also a dig zone where the kids could pick up their wood project kits.
HJ’s main request for the party was a piñata (turns out, his favorite monkey, George, had one for a party).
It was stuffed full of candy and hung in the garage.
Everything was set and waiting for HJ’s 15 friends to come barreling through the door!
