apple crisp

Growing up, I would love when my mom and I picked apples from the neighbor’s trees.  This always meant a few of my favorite things were in store.  Homemade applesauce and Apple Crisp.  Side note: When I was pregnant, my only craving was apples, I think I called my mom in tears once begging her to make homemade apple sauce.

This past week, one of my fabulous neighbors brought us over a bag of apples, and I knew I needed to make some Apple Crisp.  My grandma passed on the recipe, and I am excited to share it with all of you!

First, cut about 6 cups of apples up and place them in a 8×8 pan.  They should be about 1 1/2 inches high.  Then Sprinkle on 1 cup of white sugar, and sprinkle liberally with the cinnamon.



For the topping, mix up the oatmeal, brown sugar, flour and margarine or butter.

IMG_4643Spread it over the top and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour.  I wish I had known it was this easy, I would have made this all the time.  Actually, it’s probably better I didn’t know this; even though it is a fruit, I have a feeling it’s not overly healthy.

  1. So simple but probably pretty good!! Need to try that! I love hot apples…. and cinnamon are just sooo winter and christmas 😉
